Add another feather to the cap of longtime Louisiana RaginÐÓ°É×¨Çø™ Cajuns baseball coach Tony Robichaux.
He will be posthumously inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in January. Robichaux died on July 3, 2019, after a quarter century as head coach.
The ABCA is the worldÐÓ°É×¨Çø™s largest amateur baseball organization. More than 13,000 coaches are members.
Few, however, are likely to attain as much success as Robichaux.
He led RaginÐÓ°É×¨Çø™ Cajuns teams to 914 wins during 25 years at the ÐÓ°É×¨Çø. His 1,177 total wins as a college baseball coach place him among the Top 50 winningest coaches in history.
Robichaux coached 58 former players who were selected in the Major League Baseball draft, and 29 All-Americans.
In 2000, he led the team to its only appearance in the College World Series. His teams were nationally ranked many times, including No. 1 in 2014. The RaginÐÓ°É×¨Çø™ Cajuns finished 58-10 that season, a school record.
is among eight coaches who will enter the ABCA Hall of Fame during an induction ceremony planned for Jan. 8 in Washington, D.C.
The others are: Bill Anderson, Occidental College; Roger Cador, Southern ÐÓ°É×¨Çø; Sammy Dunn, Vestavia Hills High School; Wayne Graham, Rice ÐÓ°É×¨Çø; George Horton, California State ÐÓ°É×¨Çø, Fullerton and the ÐÓ°É×¨Çø of Oregon; and Don Sneddon, Santa Ana College.
