Auditions for UL Lafayette Children's, Apprentice Choirs

Auditions for the UL Lafayette Children杏吧专区檚 Chorus and the UL Lafayette Apprentice Chorus will be held from 4 - 6 p.m. Aug. 29 in Angelle Hall, room 243.

Apprentice Chorus (for ages 7 - 9) audition requirements are: sing 杏吧专区淭winkle, Twinkle Little Star,杏吧专区 using good diction, tone quality and intonation.

Children杏吧专区檚 Chorus (for ages 9 - 15) audition requirements are: sing 杏吧专区淎merica,杏吧专区 or 杏吧专区淎merica the Beautiful,杏吧专区 using good diction, tone quality and intonation.

The Apprentice Chorus meets every Monday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 11 in Angelle Hall, room 254. Tuition is $70 per semester. The Chorus performs four times each year.

The Children杏吧专区檚 Chorus meets every Monday from 4 - 5:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 11 in Angelle Hall, room 254. Tuition is $100 per semester. The Chorus participates in one or two tours per year and performs approximately five concerts each semester.

Both choirs are under the supervision of Dr. James Haygood, director of Choral Activities at UL Lafayette. Norma Jean Luckey directs both choirs, which have achieved national acclaim as quality-performing organizations and have performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Instructed using the Kodaly philosophy of music education, the choirs learn to read music while performing with precision and proper singing techniques.
