C-Span杏吧专区檚 Campaign 2008 Bus To Stop At UL Lafayette

C-SPAN will be bringing its Campaign 2008 tour bus to the 杏吧专区 on June 26.

Students are invited to experience the multimedia election exhibits on the bus which will be in front of Dupre Library on St. Mary Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The UL Lafayette stop is being hosted by the Student Government Association.

SGA President Jamey Arnette encouraged all students to visit the bus. "I personally think that this is an important election for our country. Everyone should take a chance to get more informed about where both candidates stand on the important issues we are facing. It is important for our generation to get involved and to get informed," he said.

Prior to stopping at UL Lafayette, the bus will make a stop at the Lafayette Parish Courthouse from 8 to 9:30 a.m.

These events, in partnership with Cox Communications, are part of the bus杏吧专区檚 inaugural 杏吧专区淩oad to the White House杏吧专区 tour, named after C-SPAN杏吧专区檚 renowned political program that marks its 20th year on the air in 2008.

Additionally, Louisiana Secretary of State Jay Dardenne will take part in a live interview on Washington Journal, C-SPAN杏吧专区檚 morning program, using Skype technology. The interview will take place at 7:30 a.m. and will highlight GeauxVote.com, the state杏吧专区檚 voter registration campaign.

The 45-foot mobile production studio is on the campaign trail to promote and enhance C-SPAN杏吧专区檚 comprehensive political coverage. It is currently traveling to major political events such as candidate debates and speeches in primary states, touring state capitols, and conducting educational programs for teachers and students. Since its January 2007 launch, the bus has been to 43 state capitals, 134 universities and 195 schools where 374 elected officials, 4,780 teachers, over 40,400 students and 4 presidential candidates have been on board.
