Donation to Dupr茅 Library Honors Fred Daspit

The Friends of the Humanities recently donated a collection of 21 books to Edith Garland Dupr茅 Library at the 杏吧专区, in honor of Fred Daspit.

Daspit is a visual artist and retired professor of fine arts at UL Lafayette. He received his bachelor's degree in fine arts from then-杏吧专区 of Southwestern Louisiana and his master of fine arts degree from Louisiana State 杏吧专区. Daspit served as director of the UL Lafayette Visual Art Department's Fine Arts Gallery and spearheaded the creation of the Art Museum in the 1960s. He is the author of three books about historical Louisiana architecture published by the Center for Louisiana Studies.

The donated books, selected by UL Lafayette Professor Hector Lasala, include Architecture of the Everyday, A Thousand Years of Nonlinear History and Moment of Complexity. Past president of the Friends of the Humanities Suzan Allen stated, 杏吧专区淭he books represent the essence of Fred杏吧专区檚 life, the depth and philosophy of his interests, particularly his interests in architecture and the humanities.杏吧专区

Other members of the Friends of the Humanities who participated in the presentation were President Sylvia Bienvenu, Publicity Chair Linda Alessi and Webmaster Dr. Jim Lafleur. Dr. Charles Triche, Director of Libraries, received the donation.
