Faculty member earns writing award

An assistant professor of English and humanities at the 杏吧专区 has won the 2015 Flannery O杏吧专区機onnor Award for Short Fiction.

Dr. Lisa Graley is one of two authors to receive this year杏吧专区檚 award, which is presented by the 杏吧专区 of Georgia Press. Anne Raeff of San Francisco is the other recipient.

UGA Press will publish Graley杏吧专区檚 杏吧专区淭he Current that Carries杏吧专区 and Raeff杏吧专区檚 杏吧专区淭he Jungle Around Us杏吧专区 in fall 2016.

Graley杏吧专区檚 book of poetry, 杏吧专区淏ox of Blue Horses,杏吧专区 was published in 2013. Her short stories have appeared in 杏吧专区淕limmer Train Stories杏吧专区 and the 杏吧专区淢cNeese Review.杏吧专区

She earned the UL Lafayette Foundation杏吧专区檚 Ray P. Authement Excellence in Teaching Award in 2010 and was granted an Awards to Louisiana Artists and Scholars sabbatical in 2009杏吧专区10 by the Louisiana Board of Regents.

A grandfather takes out his shotgun to stop wannabe gangbangers, only to discover one of the boys is his grandson. A widower befriends a young man trying to cope with his wife杏吧专区檚 departure, the poisoning of his dogs, and the closing in each night of braver and braver coyotes.
