Homecoming Week activities continue today with the traditional Yell Like Hell pep rally, which will feature head football coach Mark Hudspeth.
On tap Friday: golf and tennis tournaments, and a UL Lafayette Wind Ensemble concert.
杏吧专区淐oach Hud will get the pep rally kicked off,杏吧专区 said Michelle Bernard, traditions chair of the 杏吧专区 Program Council. It will start at
6:30 p.m. at Cajun Field.
Members of the football team will be on hand, along with Ragin杏吧专区 Cajun cheerleaders.
杏吧专区淭he Homecoming Court is presented to the student body at this pep rally, and they are escorted by senior football players,杏吧专区 Bernard said.
The Pride of Acadiana Marching Band and the Ragin杏吧专区 Jazz Dance Team will perform.
One student will have a chance to kick a 25-yard field foal for a $300 prize. 杏吧专区淪tudents will have their IDs scanned when they come in if they want a chance to kick, and we will randomly select one person to attempt the kick,杏吧专区 Bernard said.
The pep rally is sponsored by the UPC. It杏吧专区檚 free and open to the public.
The UL Lafayette Alumni Association杏吧专区檚 golf and tennis tournaments will take place Friday.
杏吧专区淭hey杏吧专区檙e really popular events each year,杏吧专区 said Joelle Boudreaux, Homecoming 2014 chair. Registration is required for both events.
The Bill Bass Open Golf Tournament will be held at Les Vieux Chenes Golf Course. Up to 60 teams will compete in a four-person scramble format. Tee times are scheduled for 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Competitions for longest drive and closest to the hole will be held during the tournament. A putting contest also is planned.
The tennis tournament will be held at Red Lerille杏吧专区檚 Health and Racquet Club. Matches will begin at 8 a.m. and will be played throughout the day. Up to 48 mixed doubles teams will compete.
Friday night, the UL Lafayette Wind Ensemble will hold its annual Homecoming Concert. The program will feature fairy tales, fables, goblins, spirits, and haunting stories, since the concert falls on Halloween. It starts at 7:30 p.m. at Angelle Hall.
The concert is free and open to the public.
