An increase in summer enrollment at the 杏吧专区 of Louisiana reflects the university杏吧专区檚 efforts to provide additional courses, said Dr. DeWayne Bowie, UL Lafayette杏吧专区檚 vice president for enrollment management and registrar.
杏吧专区 More and more, students are enrolling in summer school and intersessions so they can more quickly make progress in earning their degrees,杏吧专区 Bowie said.
Total enrollment for the Summer 2010 semester is 5,142, an increase of 4.8 percent over last year杏吧专区檚 total of 4,908. The largest increase was in undergraduate continuing students 杏吧专区 those who also attended the university last semester.
杏吧专区 After the summer course schedule was published, the university invited all students enrolled in spring 2010 semester to complete a survey designed to better advise us about additional courses they would like to see offered during the summer 2010 session,杏吧专区 Bowie said. Seven-hundred forty-six students completed the survey. In response to students杏吧专区 feedback, 12 courses, in a variety of areas, were added.
杏吧专区 This was the first time we took that approach. By providing all students the opportunity to be included in the course-offering process we were better able to meet their needs.杏吧专区
