UL Press publications garner awards

Published

Four UL Press titles have earned gold and bronze medals in the Independent Publisher Book Awards.

Gold winners are:

杏吧专区淕enerating Hope杏吧专区 by Geoff Gjertson, which documents the BeauSoleil solar home designed and built by a team from UL Lafayette for the 2009 Solar Decathlon in Washington, D.C.; and

杏吧专区淵ou Don杏吧专区檛 Know Me杏吧专区 by James Nolan, a collection of short stories about New Orleans.

杏吧专区淕enerating Hope杏吧专区 earned the top award in the Architecture category, while 杏吧专区淵ou Don杏吧专区檛 Know Me杏吧专区 was cited in the South 杏吧专区 Best Regional Fiction category.

Bronze winners are:

杏吧专区淭he Irish in New Orleans杏吧专区 by Laura D. Kelley, a history of the Irish in New Orleans illustrated with photographs; and

杏吧专区淭he Public Art of Robert Dafford杏吧专区 by Philip Gould, a vivid depiction of the renowned artist杏吧专区檚 work through text and photography.

Kelley杏吧专区檚 book was judged in in the South 杏吧专区 Best Regional Non-Fiction category; Gould杏吧专区檚 was in the coffee table books category.

The IPPY Awards, launched in 1996, are intended to increase recognition to deserving, but often unsung, titles produced by independent authors and publishers. Established as the first awards program open exclusively to independents, over 3,000 IPPYs have been awarded to authors and publishers around the world.
