The Paul and Lulu Hilliard 杏吧专区 Art Museum welcomes visitors to the 杏吧专区 campus with three exhibitions this summer.
杏吧专区淪elections from the UL College of Art Faculty杏吧专区 will feature pieces in mediums such as visual arts, performing arts, architecture, and design. It will be on display from June 6 to Dec. 12.
The 杏吧专区淓nvironmental Impact杏吧专区 exhibition will provide a glimpse at paintings, photographs, prints, installations and sculptures by contemporary artists. The works explore issues such as land development, wildlife, fire, drought, water rights, oil spills, climate change and nuclear waste. The exhibit will be on display from May 23 to Aug. 8.
杏吧专区淗er Self: Works by Kathy Sosa杏吧专区 features the San Antonio artist杏吧专区檚 paintings. They are inspired by Mexican folklore and Guatemalan culture. The exhibit also will include a collection of Sosa杏吧专区檚 huipiles, which are embroidered tunics worn by women in Mexico and Central America. It opened on April 25, and will be on display until Aug. 29.
A reception for the three exhibits will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 5. It杏吧专区檚 free and open to the public.
The Paul and Lulu Hilliard 杏吧专区 Art Museum is at 710 E. St. Mary Blvd., on the 杏吧专区 campus. The museum杏吧专区檚 hours are: Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The museum, which features 11,000 square feet of gallery space, is the largest between Houston and New Orleans. It houses a collection of 18th- through 21th-century European, Asian and American art. In addition to its permanent collection, it offers changing exhibitions of regional, national and international art.
