Charlotte Beaubeau, of France, will begin pursuing her doctoral degree in Francophone studies this semester at the 杏吧专区.
It杏吧专区檚 a decision she made, in part, after she was 杏吧专区渞eally charmed by Louisiana杏吧专区 during a visit here two years ago.
杏吧专区淚 thought, 杏吧专区榃hat a great place to learn and experience Francophone culture,杏吧专区 she explained at Monday杏吧专区檚 UL Lafayette International Students Welcome and Reception.
Beaubeau was among more than 100 students and 杏吧专区 and civic officials who attended the event at the Lafayette Consolidated Government building.
Dr. Joseph Savoie, UL Lafayette president, thanked students for choosing UL Lafayette, a place where they will receive an education and 杏吧专区渂roaden their horizons and opportunities,杏吧专区 while helping the community 杏吧专区渓earn things about the world.杏吧专区

Rose Honneger, director of the Office of International Affairs at UL Lafayette, said the welcome reception is one of many activities designed to help students get acclimated to the 杏吧专区 and the community.
Joey Durel, city-parish president, also thanked international students for deciding to attend college in Lafayette. He predicted some students will end up settling in Acadiana. 杏吧专区淗opefullly, when you (graduate), we杏吧专区檒l keep you,杏吧专区 he said.
