RaginӰר Cajuns fans will have extra incentive to display school spirit and pride on Friday, Sept. 1.

They will observe College Colors Day, an annual event for many colleges and universities across the nation. This yearӰרs theme is ӰרUnited We Fan.Ӱר

The celebration boosts enthusiasm just before the start of football season. It also serves as a reminder of the Ӱר's Wear Red campaign.

The campaign encourages students, faculty and staff members, and Ӱר supporters to dress in vermilion and white apparel and RaginӰר Cajuns gear throughout the year.

ӰרThe Wear Red tradition was launched more than a decade ago. Fans wear RaginӰר Cajuns gear and colors as often as possible to show their support for the Ӱר, its athletics teams, and to connect with other fans,Ӱר said Leslie Saloom, UL LafayetteӰרs assistant director of trademark licensing.

Sporting red on the first day of September will foster more than enthusiasm on campus or in the community. Fans can share photos on social media using #UnitedWeFan and #CollegeColors hashtags for a chance to win gear before College Colors Day.

They can also visit to win prizes such as watches, tailgating games, and apparel. The biggest prize: an all-expenses paid trip to college footballӰרs national championship game, which will be played Jan. 8 in Atlanta.

Ӱר supporters will have an opportunity to show their school spirit when football season kicks off at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2, at Cajun Field. The RaginӰר Cajuns will square off against the Southeastern Louisiana Ӱר Lions.

College Colors Day is sponsored by IMG College Licensing, which represents trademark licensing programs at more than 150 colleges and universities.
