Welcome home: Dr. Jaimie Hebert named UL Lafayette杏吧专区檚 new provost

Dr. Jaimie L. Hebert has been named provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at the 杏吧专区.

An Abbeville, La., native, Hebert holds a bachelor杏吧专区檚, a master杏吧专区檚 and a doctorate 杏吧专区 all in statistics 杏吧专区 from UL Lafayette. He received his bachelor杏吧专区檚 in 1986, master杏吧专区檚 in 1988 and doctorate in 1990.

He was most recently president of Georgia Southern 杏吧专区. In that role, he led the 杏吧专区 System of Georgia杏吧专区檚 consolidation of Georgia Southern 杏吧专区 with Armstrong State 杏吧专区.

Before his appointment as Georgia Southern president, Hebert was Sam Houston State 杏吧专区杏吧专区檚 provost and vice president of Academic Affairs from 2011 to 2016.

Hebert will replace Dr. David Danahar, who has served as interim provost at UL Lafayette since Fall 2016. He was not a candidate for the vacancy created by Dr. James Henderson杏吧专区檚 departure in January 2016.

Danahar will remain at the 杏吧专区 as senior adviser to the president.

At Sam Houston State 杏吧专区, Hebert was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from 2005 to 2011, and chair and professor of statistics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics from 1999 to 2005. He was an assistant and associate professor of statistics there from 1995 to 1999.

Hebert was an assistant professor of mathematical science at Appalachian State 杏吧专区 from 1990 to 1995.

His appointment as UL Lafayette杏吧专区檚 provost and vice president for Academic Affairs is effective July 1, pending approval by the 杏吧专区 of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
