Hebert Selected as UL LafayetteÐÓ°É×¨Çø™s New Provost
Dear faculty and staff members,
ItÐÓ°É×¨Çø™s my pleasure to announce that Dr. Jaimie Hebert will be provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at the ÐÓ°É×¨Çø.
Some of you had a chance to meet him during his visits as a candidate to our campus. IÐÓ°É×¨Çø™m thankful for your participation in the search process.
WeÐÓ°É×¨Çø™ll welcome Dr. Hebert home on July 1. In addition to his solid higher education credentials, he already is familiar with UL LafayetteÐÓ°É×¨Çø™s mission and values. HeÐÓ°É×¨Çø™s an alumnus and scholar who shares our RaginÐÓ°É×¨Çø™ Cajun spirit.
Dr. Hebert received three degrees from UL Lafayette. He received a bachelorÐÓ°É×¨Çø™s in 1986, a masterÐÓ°É×¨Çø™s in 1988 and a doctorate in 1990 ÐÓ°É×¨Çø“ all in statistics.
Dr. Hebert was most recently president of Georgia Southern ÐÓ°É×¨Çø. He led the ÐÓ°É×¨Çø System of Georgia consolidation of Georgia Southern ÐÓ°É×¨Çø with Armstrong State ÐÓ°É×¨Çø.
Before his appointment as president at Georgia Southern, he was provost and vice president of Academic Affairs from 2011 to 2016 at Sam Houston State ÐÓ°É×¨Çø.
At Sam Houston State ÐÓ°É×¨Çø, he was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from 2005 to 2011, and chair and professor of statistics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics from 1999 to 2005. He was an assistant and associate professor of statistics at Sam Houston from 1995 to 1999, and an assistant professor of mathematical science at Appalachian State ÐÓ°É×¨Çø from 1990 to 1995.
His appointment to UL Lafayette is pending approval by the Board of Supervisors of the ÐÓ°É×¨Çø of Louisiana System.
IÐÓ°É×¨Çø™d like to thank the search committee members and chair Dr. Dianne Olivier for their diligence and proficiency to lead us to the selection of Dr. Hebert.
I share the appreciation of many for Dr. David DanaharÐÓ°É×¨Çø™s contributions over the past two years advancing the ÐÓ°É×¨Çø. IÐÓ°É×¨Çø™m pleased heÐÓ°É×¨Çø™ll continue working at the ÐÓ°É×¨Çø as senior adviser in my office.
