Living on campus is the best way to get a full, engaging college experience. You will make life-long friendships, build connections and support groups in your residence hall, and only have a short walk to classes, food, and fun.
 

Apply for housing as soon as you are admitted to UL Lafayette, even before you officially commit. The earlier you apply for housing and complete your housing application, the more residential halls youÐÓ°ÉרÇø™ll have to choose from during room selection. Hurry, we often fill up!

Housing Requirement

The UL Lafayette follows the ÐÓ°ÉרÇø of Louisiana System policy that requires all unmarried, full-time first-time freshmen students, regardless of age or emancipation status, to live in campus residential halls as long as space is available. Learn more »

Incoming Freshmen Housing Check List

Complete your housing application as soon as possible to have the best chance at getting the type of room you want, as well as the roommate/suitemate you would like.

  1. Get admitted to UL Lafayette.  
  2. December 8, 2025: Housing application opens ÐÓ°ÉרÇø” apply for housing through the HousingÐÓ°ÉרÇø¯Portal in .
  3. Fill out the Housing application.
    Pay your $250 non-refundable application fee and prepayment insideÐÓ°ÉרÇø¯the Housing Portal in . This determines your housing application date and your priority for room assignments.
    Determine whichÐÓ°ÉרÇø¯room type you are interested in living in.
    Do you require any disability-related accommodations? TheÐÓ°ÉרÇø¯Office of Disability ServicesÐÓ°ÉרÇø¯can help.
  4. Complete your Student Profile Questionnaire inside the Housing Portal in .
  5. Optional: Find a roommate through theÐÓ°ÉרÇø¯Housing Portal in ULink.
    Optional: Request a roommateÐÓ°ÉרÇø¯ ÐÓ°ÉרÇø”  roommate groups must be created and verified before May 1 to be considered for placement together.
  6. May 1, 2026:ÐÓ°ÉרÇø¯RoommateÐÓ°ÉרÇø¯process closes
  7. Mid-summer: First-year student housing assignments are emailed to the student's ÐÓ°ÉרÇø email, including building, room type, and roommate information.
  8. Late July:ÐÓ°ÉרÇø¯Review the Move-InÐÓ°ÉרÇø¯information sent to your email.
  9. Start to pack! Refer to ourÐÓ°ÉרÇø¯ Packing Checklist for recommendations.
